
Your Client Has the Same AI You Do — Now What?
Clients can now self-serve the analysis that previously justified your fee. What still makes a coach worth paying for.
Your prospect built the deck already.
Ran the SWOT. Pulled the market comps. Drafted three strategic options. Before your discovery call even started.
They used AI. Same tools you have. Maybe better prompts.
That's the new floor for consulting and coaching buyers, not the ceiling. IBM Consulting's 2025 research found 86% of consulting buyers actively seek AI-enabled services. 66% said they'd drop a firm that doesn't use AI at all. Read that twice. Two-thirds will fire you for being behind, not for being wrong.
I've watched this movie before. Wireless retail sold data plans nobody could see or touch. Once customers could research and compare online, the sales conversation had to change or die. The same thing is happening to coaching and consulting right now. The analysis that used to justify your invoice is a free prompt away.
Here's where it bites hardest:
1️⃣ Hustler coaches ($100K–$250K) still sell "I'll analyze your business for you." That pitch is dying in real time.
2️⃣ Operator and Leader coaches ($250K–$1M) feel it on price. Clients ask why they're paying for what ChatGPT just did for free.
3️⃣ Architect coaches ($1M–$3M) face it inside their own delivery team. Coach Partners who lean on AI output without judgment start looking replaceable too.
Your value was never the analysis. It's the judgment, the accountability, and the pattern recognition that only comes from actually having run a business. AI can generate options. It can't sit across from you and tell you which option gets you fired by your own team.
✅ DO use AI in front of the client, not just behind the scenes. Let them watch you filter it.
✅ DO reprice around outcomes and accountability, not hours or deliverables.
✅ DO teach your Coach Partners to treat AI as a first draft machine, never the final word.
❌ DON'T compete with free tools on speed or volume. That fight is already lost.
❌ DON'T hide that you use AI. Clients want it. 86% of them said so.
❌ DON'T leave your fee structure anchored to work a machine now does in seconds.
➡️ The analysis got commoditized. The judgment didn't.
✳️ Clients aren't paying you to know things anymore. They're paying you to be right when it's expensive to be wrong.
If a client showed up to your next call with the AI-generated analysis already done, would your value still be obvious in the first five minutes?
